Movie Night – “Chef”

Hello everybody, an impromptu movie night today.

I just finished watching a very relaxing movie with Jon Favreau – “Chef “. It has been written, directed, produced by him and he also stars in it. He starred in many movies, produced and directed a lot of them, as well written many scripts. He is one of my favorite actors/producers/directors. Chef was surprisingly easy to watch, it featured an average guy with a passion. A passion to cook. His creative wings have been clipped and pride shaken. A hero has to fall down before he can get up. He has one best friend and a little son, who stands by him on the journey back to being happy. Even his ex wife (played by beautiful Sofia Vergara  known as Gloria in “Modern Family “) supports him on this road by giving him an idea on how to make his passion a reality. The cast of the movie is fantastic. A lot of big names like Dustin Hoffman, Robert Downey Jr, etc.

This movie was easy to watch. Right from the start we see that he is a great guy and we support him. We root for him to achieve his goals and passions. It made me think about my work and passion. On several occasions in the movie we can hear and see themes like – “I don’t do this for the money, It makes me happy”, “I love this”. Finding true passion is hard, but many of us want it. This is a second movie  that made me think about what is really important in life (first one was The Secret Life of Walter Mitty ). After movies like this I start to question myself if I am truly happy with what I have, what I have achieved, where I am going in life, and if I need something else in life to be truly happy.. Good questions, eternal questions. We shall see, no answers yet.

Basically I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to relax and see a good story with a happy ending (or not a happy ending).

One important thing – watch this movie AFTER you have eaten, since it features a lot of tasty looking dishes. I want to visit Texas now.. badly.. you will understand it once you have seen the movie.

I’m gonna go and make myself a sandwich now.

Keep on reading.
